AN ARCHBISHOPS WAGER The following anecdote is from the Ameri ¬ can Turf Register of February 1831 The Rev Mr waited upon the Arch ¬ bishop of York to inform him that the Rev Henry Goodbridge a respectable clergyman well known in the north of England kept race horses horsesNo No you dont say so replied his grace graceYes Yes said the busy meddling informant and he has actually entered one of his horses to run in the ensuing meeting at Doncaster DoncasterThen Then said his grace Ill bet yox a guinea he wins
