ANNOUNCE 1923 DATES Kentucky State Racing Commis ¬ sion Approves Spring Schedule Opening Day at Lexington April 29 Provisions Made for forAshland Ashland and Dade Park LEXINGTON Ky January 16 The Ken ¬ tucky State Racing Commission at its meet ¬ ing today Senator Camden presiding and all members present granted licenses for racing to the Kentucky Association owner of the Lexington track the Kentucky Jockey Club owner of Churchill Downs Louisville and the Latonia track at Covington the Tri State Fair and Racing Association owner of the new Ashland track and the Green River Jockey Club owner of Dade Park at Hen ¬ derson dersonThe The following racing dates were granted grantedLexington Lexington April 28 to May 9 10 days daysLouisville Louisville April 12 to June 2 19 days daysLatonia Latonia June 5 to July 7 29 days daysRepresentatives Representatives of the TriState Fair and Racing Association and the Green River Jockey Club were present and stated that dates in July and August were desired for the two new tracks It was stated that the representatives had themselves agreed that the dates in July would go to Ashland and the dates in August would go to Dade Park but that they would prefer to make their applications at a later meeting if agreeable to the commission commissionChairman Chairman Camden stated that the commis ¬ sion would be called to meet at a later date In advance of the opening at Lexington at which time the dates will be approved approvedAt At a luncheon following the meeting with all members of the commission and repre ¬ sentatives of all trades present it was agreed that Ashland is to have nineteen days open ¬ ing July 10 and closing July 31 and Dade Park is to have nineteen days opening Au ¬ gust 4 and closing August 25 25John John B McClain of Lexington was reap pointed supervisor of mutuels and J J Grant of Covington was reappointed telegraph cen ¬ sor sorThe The officials for Lexington Ashland and Henderson were not named but the officials at Louisville and Latonia will be the same as last year with the exception of the start ¬ er who has not been named but it is prob ¬ able that William Snyder and William Ham ¬ ilton will be employed to alternate with the work workCharles Charles F Price Andrew Leonard Sam C Nuckols aid C W Hay the Kentucky Jockey Club stewards were named as the license committee committeeDEPLORE DEPLORE DEATH OF A B DADE DADEThe The following resolutions upon the death of starter Arthur Barrett Dade of Hender ¬ son were adopted Whereas in his infinite wisdom God has taken from his labors here Arthur Barrett Dade and elevated him to a higher sphere be it resolved by the Kentucky State Racing Commission in meeting assembled that we deeply deplore the death of Mr Dade with a sense of the irreparable less suffered not only by us personally but by the turf at large largeHe He was an unright conscientious gentle ¬ man who besides his recognized usefulness was an ornament to the turf And by reason of his character and sterling integrity his rare skill as an official and bis unvarying courtesy commanded the respect of all who knew him He gave to racing his best ef ¬ forts and brought to his work the highest ideals splendid character and that rare skill that made him equal to the best in his pro ¬ fession His character was his chief claim to recognition and for this reason he bore the respect and admiration of Uie entire rac ¬ ing public publicHis His untiring efforts his indefatigable energy and his conscientious discharge of hi duty made his burden not lightly felt and because of this his taking away was attributable to the manner in which he dis ¬ charged his duties dutiesBe Be it further resolved that his family has lost a loving and devoted member and that we extend to them our most heartfelt sym ¬ pathy in their great sorrow and affliction afflictionBe Be it further resolved that the secretary of this commission spread upon its minutes and give a copy to the press of these resolu ¬ tions and send to the members of his family this form of our esteem as well as our sym ¬ pathy pathySigned Signed by the Kentucky State Racing Com ¬ mission committee J N Camden chair ¬ man T C McDowell vicechairman Polk Laffoon E A Pollard R W Hunter
