FRENCH CHASING IN 1923 Grand Steeplechase de Paris and Grand Hurdle Race Retain High Values PARIS France January U There is to be fortyfive days of firstclass obstacle rac ¬ ing at the improved Auteuil course this year yearThe The announcement has just been made by the Societe des Steeplechases de France FranceThe The value of the most important prizes will remain practically the same as last year The Grand Steeplechase de Paris will again be worth 160000 francs and the Grand Hur ¬ dle race 80000 francs francsThe The conditions of these two great races however have been slightly modified and fiveyearolds will in future carry 143 pounds instead of 116 pounds as in the past six yearolds and over 150 pounds instead of 148 pounds The penalties for previous win ¬ ners of the Grand Steeplechase and the Grand National will be thirteen pounds in ¬ stead of ten pounds There has also been an alteration in the course for the Grand Hur ¬ dle race
