Twenty Years Ago Today Chief Turf Events of February 28 1903 Racing at New Orleans and Ingleside InglesideAmong Among the new subscribers for the Sara ¬ toga Special at 1000 for each nominator are e P Dwyer S S Brown J Grant Lyman and 1 Lawrence Waterbury WaterburyBecause Because of the withdrawals of all of the e horses that have received more weight than Conroy II owned by Foxhall P Keene he is topweight in the City and Suburban Handi ¬ cap The winner of the Brooklyn Handicap of 1901 will carry 126 pounds the English rules providing that in case the highest weight accepted is not 126 pounds the impost of the highest accepting weight shall be raised to 126 pounds The bestliked horse at Nashville and consid ¬ ered by many as the best in the allage divi ¬ sion is Glen Water Turney Brothers Suburban candidate He has grown a great deal in his fouryearold form and is a grandlooking indi ¬ vidual Glen Water is also eligible for the Montgomery Handicap to be run on the open ¬ ing day of the Memphis meeting but it is not likely that he will be sent on to participate in that event However if he is ready he may be shipped to Montgomery Park ParkThe The great race mare Senorita owned by S S Brown and for which the Pittsburgh coal kings Kentucky stud farm is named is be ¬ lieved to be safe in foal this year to Wools thorpe Senorita was barren last year and her filly by Ben Brush which would now be a twoyearold died as a suckling so in recent years Brown has had none too good luck with this famous daughter of Prince Charlie She is in perfect health and in looks is not sur ¬ passed by any brood mare in this country Senorita is the same age as J B Haggins Salvator SalvatorWyeth Wyeth has developed into a powerful piece of racing machinery and is sure to prove a much better horse than he was when he captured the American Derby last year At least that is what his trainer Enoch Wishard thinks Wycth has grown some and has spread out quite a bit He is compactly built of good conformation and well balanced Wyeth was turned out after the Westchester meeting and occupied a paddock adjoining Cumberland Park until recently when he was taken up and placed in training The horse is high in flesh at present and will not likely race until he reaches Chicago He is being pointed for the big handicap at Washington Park Wyeth is not a candidate for the Brooklyn or Subur ¬ ban Handicaps owing to the fact that he will not be taken East until after those big races are run Runnels Wyeths stable companion has also developed into a big horse of good conformation and the fact that he won his last five races as a threeyearold stamps him as one of the best in the Drake barn Runnels is in practically the same races as Wyeth and it is likely that these good horses will uphold Drakes good record in all the overnight handi
