HORSES FOR AKRON MEETING MEETINGFirst First Consignment of Thorough ¬ breds Expected to Beach Ohio Track This Week AKRON Ohio March 21 Edward A Pohl man general manager of the TriState Fairs and Racing Associations has notified Steve Steinrnctz who is in charge oC the racing de ¬ partment of the Akron Racing Association which will inaugurate the TriState season beginning April IS and continuing for a period of sixteen days that the first consign ¬ ment of thoroughbreds from the South may be expected to rcach the Akron track this week Manager Pohlman is in receipt of word from Havana Cuba that the majority of horses destined to participate in the coming spring meeting will get under way immediately after the close of the meeting at Oriental Park ParkHavana Havana will send a representative quota of equines to Ohio for the spring races O L Foster who has been one of the leading win ¬ ning owners notified manager Pohlman that he is shipping eleven horses here for the meeting The following owners horses will be in the Cuban consignment Thomas Bros J Hayes 4 S McNeill 5 Blair Mock 5 W Cedar 1 C A Merritt 2 T B Waters 4 C Barrett 2 and P L Short 2 2C C D Stevens wfio went to New Orleans in the interest of the coming meeting re ¬ ports that the horsemen responded liberally and it is expected that there will be a special horse train run to Akron following the close of the tenday Mobile meeting as the clubs race at the Akron spring meeting meetingXO XO LACK OF MATERIAL MATERIALSeveral Several patrons of the TriState circuit campaigning their stables at Tijuana have icquested reservations for the first meeting which would indicate that they plan to desert Tijuana before the close of the Lower Cali ¬ fornia Jockey Clubs winter meeting There will also be several new additions to the ranks of owners as owners and trainers who in previous years raced on the Canadian northwest circuit have signified their inten ¬ tion of racing in the TriState circuit this year among them William Gargan H Keisel T Bevan C Pyle and others othersM M N Macfarlan who will serve in the dual capacity of judge and secretary at Akron is working on the condition book for the coming meeting There will be seven races daily with no purse offering having an added value of less than 500 while there will be handicaps of an increased value de ¬ cided during the meeting meetingThe The majority of the stables that wintered at the Akron track arc well advanced and owners report that their charges will be on edge in advance of the state set for the opening April IS ISErnest Ernest Cottrell who is serving his third year on the circuit as paddock judge has been ordered to Akron to superintend the work of preparing the track proper for the meeting and period intervening between now and the opening openingJockey Jockey Ted Bud who rode for Dee Ham ¬ mond during the winter in Cuba was among the arrivals from Havana He will ride as a free lance at the Akron meeting meetingStarter Starter Lester Dean was a visitor in the city for a few days but returned to Erie where he plans to remain until the opening of the TriState season
