RACING AT HOT SPRINGS Jefferson Livingston Backs Move ¬ ment to Revive the Sport at Arkansas Health Resort A wellknown Chicago sportsman returned from Hot Springs Ark yesterday and brought word that racing may be revived at that popular Arkansas health resort next year He said that Jefferson Livingston the wellknown breeder and horseman is back of the movement and is now in the Vapor City negotiating for the resumption of the sport there thereIt It is asserted that Mrs John Condon widow of John Condon former Chicago turfman who built the Oaklawn race track in Hot Springs has consented to sell or leasa her interest in the track providing the terms are approved by her attorney attorneyHot Hot Springs merchants are in favor of hav ¬ ing racing revived in that city So are a majority of city and county officials Gov ¬ ernor McRae it is said is not against racing providing all factions are harmonious harmoniousIt It is understood that the governor for some time had not been favorable to racing in Garland County in which Hot Springs is lo ¬ cated because that county did not give the state executive the support he had expected when running for governor governorBut But those in close touch with state politics are of the opinion that governor McRae will not now oppose racing if the county and city officials go on record for the revival of the sport sportIf If the present plans go through it is the intention of the race promoters to run a thirtyday meeting beginning the latter part of February of next year yearThe The track has been kept up ever since rac ¬ ing was stopped several years ago The plant could be thrown open to the public within twentyfour hours according to the track superintendent Horsemen in general are in favor of having the races revived at Hot Springs always a popular winter resort
