SPRECKELS JUVENILES ENROUTE TO JAMAICA SAX FRANCISCO. Cal., April 5.— Eight two-year-olds owned by A. B. Spreckels. dean among thoroughbred breeders on the Pa.-itic CMMt. are on the way to Jamaica under the care of the veteran trainer C. W. "BiH" Carroll. Last fall sixteen youngsters were shipped from the Spreckels Stock Farm at Napa to Pleasanton and the eight sent East are the result of the winnowing process that has been going on all winter. Most of the babies are sons and daughters of the successful stallion Runnymede. son of Voter and Iltimus dam Running Stream. The dams repres-nted are by Star Shoot. Dr. l-caigo. the Ayrshire horse Solitaire II. that was import. -d by the master of the haras in the pictoreaaue Napa Valley, and other lirmly established brood mare sires. Last year the Spreckels two-year-olds were BoM at Jamaica it the middle of May at a public au.-tion. but this year, although most | of the young thoroughbreds undoubtedly will fcfl disposed of. no sale has been achedaleaL Easterners probably will be chiefly interested in Mats—, a half-brother to Morvich. a estt that has shown Indications of being a runn.-r somewhat along the litus of his illustrious relative.
