The building is now being freshened up for the reception of the Baltimore sportsmans stable, which now contains fifty horses. It is understood that several of the stables which are planning to campaign at Pimlico will remain at Belmont Park for the first day of the Cnited Hunts meeting. April 28. in order to take part in the good card of races offered on that day. Trainer A. J. Joyner has George Wideners veteran campaigner Lanius in training at Pelmont Park and it looks as if that good racer will round into condition early. Tuesday he worked three-quarters in 1 :10 and yesterday ran a half in 48. Dave Leary. who has charge of the Belmont Park training division -of the Ran-cocas Stable, had his two-year-olds out on the track for exercise Tuesday. Karl Sande. who went to Havre do Grace to ride Kxterminator in the Harford Handicap Monday, has returned and he was assisting in the training. One of the horses which is attracting considerable attention from the work watchers is the Westmont Stables Tryster. Trainer Harlan had this son of Feter Pan racing at the top of his form last autumn, when lie won all three of the Pimlico Serial Weight-for-Age races. He has come through the winter in good condition and is rapidly rounding into form again. Tuesday morning he worked three quartern of a mile in 1 :17%, going the first half-mile in 50%. Another of the Cochran horses turned in a good move when June Grass went a mile in 1:40V5- This horse blows considerably after each gallop, but he does not appear to be touched in the wind. He has developed wonderfully during the winter and appears to be in the best form of his career. Oimbra and Cimru galloped five-eighths together in 1 :05. Only two Kentucky Derby candidates were seen under the saddle — the Greentree Stables Cherry Pie, which galloped a mile in 1 :47%. and G. A. Cochrans Goshawk, the latter going a mile la 1 :40. lie was not extended and pulled up without any signs of distress. Mr. Cochran visited the track Saturday for the first time since his return from Europe pnd he had the pleasure of seeing his Derby colt work three-o.uarters mile in 1 :14%. The Cochran horses are to be shipped to Maryland at the end of this week. Kxodus of the Greentree Stable is rapidly nearing racing condition, judging by the form he is showing in his training gallops. Tuesday he went a half in 40 and finished out three-quarters in 1 :16%. «
