Oldest Race on the American Continent Hie Kings Flate is the oldest race run continuously on ths American continent. Today will mark its sixty fourth running. From 1860 to 1901 it was run as the Queens Plate in honor of the reigning monarch of England, Queen Victoria. For four years- 1860 to 1863 — the race was run at Carleton and subsequently at Guelph, London, Hamilton, St. Catharines, Whitby, Kingston, Ottawa, Barrie, Woodstock, Prescott and Picton.
