I Woodbine Park Brevities S. N. Holmans Best Pal and Mavourneen arrived from Kentucky today. Starter Harry Morrissey came from New York, which completes the official family. W. A. McKinney passed through Toronto yesterday en route to Montreal, where he had shipped his stable. Dr. H. J. McCarthy came up from Baltimore for a few days racing and will return to Maryland to resume his practice. A meeting of the Canadian liacing Associations will be held some time this coming week. Jockey E. Taplin came up from New York and will ride for the Kenton Stable during the Canadian season. T. J. Donohue came in with the stable of Mrs. Ambrose Clark and will ship to Blue Bonnets from here. William Martin, who wintered F. G. Christophers Canadian-bred stable at Hamilton, Ont., was an arrival today with Procyon. Sir Clarence and June Fly. Trainer W. II. Bringloe of the Seagram stable reports that there are six foals at the farm at Waterloo, Ont. — three colts and three fillies. .1. P. Smith came up from New York with the stable of J. W. Bean and several others. The Tri-State Stable, in charge of J. P. Iolk, came in today from Kentucky. W. A. Carter, who has the promising Cuban apprentice Pernia under contract, is desirous of turning the youngster over to some big stable for the summer season. Pernia is a lightweight and is pronounced a comer by those that witnessed his riding the last few weeks in Havana. Morris Rowan, a brother to jockey Joe Rowan, left for Saratoga Springs from his home in Long Island, suffering with a cancer of the stomach, while another brother. Tommy, is confined in a Jamaica hospital, suffering with a broken leg. Rowan was exercising a two-year-old for Jack McCor-mack, by whom he is employed, when the juvenile broke through a fence and injured Rowan. Examinations showed the leg broken in two places. ■ ♦
