GALLOPS THROUGH MUD Washington Handicap Candidates Work Under Difficult Conditions for Saturdays Feature Race. LAUREL, Md., Oct. 24. The Laurel Park track was sloppy after another hard rainfall last night, but there were several of the candidates for the 5,000 Washington Handicap, to be run Saturday, out for exercise. King Solomons Seal ran farther than any of them when he galloped a mile and an eighth through the mud in 2:01, doing the three-quarters in 1:19 and the mile in 1:49. Spot Cash galloped a mile in 1:44, while Jim Healey sent his stable companion, Shuffle Along, a half in 52. James Rowe had Bunting and Flagstaff, the two Harry Payne Whitney candidates, out and these two worked a half mile in 49. Word was received from Frank Bray that he was shipping the Lilane Stables Sunsini down for the race from New York today.
