LONGBOAT, racing to his true form today, and close up from the start, came fast and gamely through the stretch and wore ADVENTURE down in the last sixteenth. ADVENTURE saved much ground on the last turn, and racing into the lead, would have won if better ridden. KINGSCLERE set a good pace to Old stretch, but was tiring at the finish. BEN BOLT also began tiring in the last eight li. TRANTULA began slowly and was taken all over the track. GORDON SHAW was eased up in the last eighth. POPPYE was also eared up when her rider was injured. FLOWER SHOP was saved for the first half mile and, saving ground on the last turn, finished fast and outstayed REPEATER through the last fifty yards. REPEATER raced into a good lead at once and showed fine speed, but began tiring near the end. HOY moved up resolutely, but lost ground by coming wide and tired in the stretch.
