FRANK BRUEN OPTIMISTIC General Manager of Oriental Park Predicts Successful Meeting. Bases Calculations On Prosperity of Cuba Horses Leave Wheeling and Huntington for Havana. LOUISVILLE, Ky., Nov. G. Frank J. Bruen, general manager of the Oriental Park race track, Havana, Cuba, who has been spending several days at French Lick Springs, Ind., following the close at Latonia, will arrive here tomorrow to consult with horsemen who plan to race at the course of which he is the guiding spirit during the coming winter. Before leaving Latonia, Bruen received the assurance of a number of owners and trainers who have participated in the sport at Oriental Park for several years past that they would return this year, while a number of newcomers have been listed for shipment there. "I believe that we will enjoy a most prosperous season," said Bruen, "and I base my opinion on the prosperity of the Cuban people, which is greater than at any time since the Avar. We will hang up ,100 in purse money each day, while feature races with extra financial inducements will be offered when the occasion requires. During the summer considerable money was expended upon improvements at Oriental Park, and the course proper came in for more than its share of attention. It is our aim to continue to beautify our racing plant, which now ranks in this respect with any track in America or any place else." Judge William H. Shelley, who will serve as racing secretary at Havana, returned to his home here for a brief visit before taking up his duties there. He said that ten carloads of horses left Wheeling, W. Va., Sunday for Oriental Park, while several more were shipped from Huntington, where he officiated as a steward during the recent meeting. Shelleys services Avere sought by sev-eral winter race tracks, but he chose Havana in preference to the others. His presence there Avill draw many horses as he is one of the most popular racing officials of the present day. A special train will leave here for HaArana at the conclusion of the Churchill Downs meeting and it Avill carry Pullmans, a diner and day coaches as Avell as horse cars. Both the pari-mutuel and bookmaking forms of Avagering Avill be used at Oriental Park during the coming winter. Manager Bruen said that AThile on a recent visit to the New York tracks, some of the most prominent odds layers from that section advised him that they Avill cut in at Havana.
