LATEST LEXINGTON GOSSIP Second Foal of the Year Reported Much Interest in Cebrian Sale B. Shannon Goes Hunting. LEXINGTON, Ky., Jan. 7. A chestnut colt, by Light Brigade from Boja, by Handsel, the property of Thomas B. Jones, Crystal Springs Farm, is the second foal to be ported this year. It was born Friday last. The name Helen Carter has been granted to C. E. and John Hamilton, of Covington, for the two-year-old sister to Breechloader, by Flittergold, from Thistle Green, by Knight of the Thistle. Helen Carter is in Charles Dodsons stable at the Kentucky Associations track and Breechloader is in Howard Oots stable at New Orleans. Dr. M. W. Williams, of Hopkinsville, has announced that he will send his mare Hopscotch to the court" of Playfellow. Hopscotch is by Flint Rock son of Rock Sand, from Fond Hopes, by St Blaise. Playfellow brother to Man o War is by Fair Play from Mahuba, by Rock Sand, thus this mating will double the blood of the sire of Tracery in the resulting foal. Ken Walker, secretary of the Kentucky Sales Company, said the applications received for catalogs of Edward Cebrians disposal of thoroughbred breeding stock and yearlings at Keeneland Farm, Tuesday, January 22, are more than ordinarily numerous and that every section of the country is represented in the list of requests. The catalog, he said, will be ready for mailing Tuesday night, January 8. Barry Shannon, manager of Idle Hour Stock Farm, left today for Florida for a couple of weeks hunting. J. W. Pearson was here today from Detroit to see his two-year-old bay filly by Colonel Vennig fronTindelnhtrmgri Dan T. Morris at the Kentucky Associations track. She is a likely racing prospect
