FAIR GROUNDS NOTES Jockey A, Gantner was called to his home at Newport, Ky., on account of illness in his family. A couple of two-year-olds consigned to T. E. Crist arrived Friday morning at the Fair Grounds from Springfield, Illinois. Starter Snyder, operated upon recently for an attack of appendicitis, it was stated today, would be able to leave the hospital Monday. C. Hamilton, who owned Stone Street when that horse won the Kentucky Derby many years ago, was an arrival from his home at Covington, Ky., and plans to be here for the remainder of the winter. Judge Joseph Sabath of the Circuit Court, Cook County, Illinois, accompanied by his son, who is counsel for the Business Mens Racing Association of Chicago, and their families, were among the arrivals today for a brief visit. Mose Goldblatt departed Thursday night for Cincinnati on a business trip and will return next week. Because of the heavy fog over the Fair Grounds during the morning the dockers had difficulty in timing the horses that worked. The first, -second, sixth and seventh races for Saturday were divided, it being the first time of the meeting that a "split" was necessary on a half holiday. Jockey F. Smith, who has been out of tho saddle for the past ten days, resumed riding this afternoon. During the Kentucky racing season he will ride for tho stable of Fred-crick Johnson, which will be trained by John Lowe. "Will Perkins announced that all of the horses he has in training here are in the market, including nine two-year-olds. This decision is due to tho fact that Perkins is anxious to return to Lexington to take charge of the thirty two-year-olds he has at that track, and get them ready for the Kentucky spring season of racing.
