ENGAGE JUDGE J. A. MURPHY Will Preside Over Spring Meeting at Beulah Park, Columbus, Ohio, Opening April 19. COLUMBUS, Ohio, Jan. 25. Joseph A. Murphy, now presiding steward at New Orleans, has been engaged to act as presiding judge at Beulah Park, where Ohios first running meeting of the year will begin April 19 and continue through May 10. This will be Beulah Parks second meeting. The place just taken by Mr. Murphy was filled last year by the late Fred Gerhardy. Three small stables, owned by Joe Baldwin, George Foley and A. B. Davidson, have winter quarters here. Beulah Parks track has been torn up considerably all winter on account of the installation of additional drainage facilities. About the middle of March the course will be thrown open for training purposes. Half of the conditions for the April meeting have been made up and the books, soon to come from the printer, will be distributed early in February to horsemen at all winter trades and elsewhere.
