ABADANE raced in closest pursuit of the speed pacemaker until turning for home, where under hard riding, he came fast to win in the final stride. SUNNYLAND opened up a huge gap in the first quarter and kept it until entering the stretch, where he commenced to tire, but only gave way right at the end. GREAT LUCK was hard ridden and did his best. JOHN S. REARDON showed brief early speed. The others were never serious contenders. Overweights Great Luck, 1 pound; John S. The latter was saved to the stretch, where he came a trifle wide, and finishing fast, would have won in the next stride. EL ROBLE set a good pace and when challenged made a game finish.
