LONDON, Eng, May 21.— Somerville Tat- tcrsalls Hurstwood. a bay colt by lay Cru- sader — Rlesadle, won the Newmarket Stakes , for three-year-olds at a mile and a quarter at Newmarket this afternoon. The first four horses were closely bunched at the finish. Batmen Trout was second and Sansovino third, while Bright Knight, a stable com- panion to the winner, was fourth. Smyth rods a strong finish on Hurstwood and man- aged to have him home winner by a neck, while Salmon Trout, Sansovino ancl Bright Knight finished heads apart behind him. Nearly all the eight starters in the race are iligible to the Epsom Derby, and, in spite of the sultry weather, a big crowd turned out | to see the running. A lumber of Americans i and Australians were in the crowd. I
