i I TURF NEWS OF THE DAY FROM BELMONT PARK NEW YORK, N. T., May 31. Miss Helen Cowley, who did service as a war nurse, was an interested visitor in the clubhouse inclcsure. Edward W. Cole will leave for Toronto Monday to fill his effice in the stand for the Dufierin Park meeting. Frank Hackett, agent of the Rancocas Stable, left for the farm at Jobstown, N. J., to look over the stock at that point. H. P. Headleys Suburban Handicap starter, Chacolet, arrived at Belmont in splendid condition following her trip from the west. During the absence of trainer A. B. Gordon, Jack McCormiek will saddle the H. C. Fisher horses, which were saddled by James Fitz-simmons on Thursday. Joseph Edwards received a letter from J. D. Carr, of the Crestwood Farms, Lexington. Ky., reporting the arrival of five foals at that point. Because of the large number of horses to be sold at Saturdays sale, the Fasig-Tipton Co. announced that it is absolutely necessary that the sale begin promptly at the time advertised, 1 :30. Something like 35 horses will pass under the hammer. J. Howard Lewis has added to the sale the five-year-old bay gelding, Daniel Boone, a winner over the jumps last year. This horse is being sold to dissolve a partnership between Howard Lewis and S. II. Cram
