Winn, manager of the Kentucky Jockey Club, whe has every reason to be proud of the unprecedented success of the spring meeting at this beautiful and historic course, which closed today. "Although the weather conditions have been unfavorable, the attendance has been of generous proportions and the race-loving public responded in daily increasing numbers to the high- class racing the Kentucky Jockey Club has provided. "Derby day surpassed all previous records, net only for the number of peoplo out for the quality of the sport. We had visitors from every state in the Inlun and every Ken-tuckian semed to take a personal pride in being represented.- Our purpose is to make Churchill Downs the most beautiful course In the world and to leave nothing undone to bring together the greatest thoroughbreds in high-class contests. We are gnteful for the patronage accorded and we will try in every way to bo worthy of the public confidence."
