CHURCHILL DOWNS ITEMS OF INTEREST FROM FAMED KENTUCKY TRACK LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 31. Trainer Gordon, who came here with Nellie Morse, departed for New York tonight. Edward Thornton, who was operated on recently, is progressing favorably, but will have to remain in a local hospital for some time. IT. P. Headleys good mare Chacolet has been shipped to Belmont Park to fill her engagement In the Suburban Handicap to be run Saturday. Will Perkins transferred sixteen horses to Latonia Friday morning and will dispatch the remaining sixteen head to that track Sunday afternoon. Nellie Morse will be returned to Belmont Park tomorrow morning. She will go with Modest and King ONeill II., the former an intended starter in the 0,000 Belmont Stakes next Saturday. H. C "Bud" Fisher sent trainer Alex Gordon word during the afternoon that he would be unable to be on hand to witness Nellie Morse race In the Kentucky Oaks, having I ! missed his train in New York. Friday morning witnessed numerous departure of stables for Latonia. Included in the number were the establishments of Jack Mcpherson, Gallaher Brothers and the division of the E. R Bradley stable, handled by William Hurley.
