w — • _ , TURF NEWS OF THE DAY FROM BELMONT PARK NEW YORK. N. Y., June 12. Max Hirsch, who holds the contract on jockey R Pierce, has issued instructions that he accept no more outside mounts. Jockey J. Merimee, who was set down by starter Cassidy for ten days, on Wednesday violated rule 51 of the Jockey Club and as a result Merimee will be able to accept mounts at Aqueduct. The jurisdiction of the starter in suspending a rider does not extend longer than the meeting at which punishment was inflicted. Jockey I . McAtee, following a brief illness, will resume riding tomorrow.
