MERVINIA was outpaced in the early running, but closed up steadily in the stretch and finished with a belated-rush. MARGARET ST. L. showed much speed from the start and had no mishaps. PRIME MINISTER worked his way up on the outside and came wide on the stretch turn, but finished fast "and gamely and was going away at the end. WASHINGTON forced a fast pace for the going and raced BANTER into defeat, but could not withstand the rush, of the "winner. THE FOET finished with a rush on the inside. DOMINIQUE raced gamely, but could never get to the leaders. COCKNEY had no mishaps. BANTER set a fast pace and quit after going five-eighths. WHETSTONE began slowly and was outrun, but came with a rush on the inside through the final eighth and outgamed OHONE at the end. The latter followed the winner closely to the Stretch, but tired in the final seventy yards. RELENTLESS raced cn the inside in the early running, but was taken to the outside on the -stretch turn, but could not improve her position. FRIDAY 13Tn began slowly, but gradually improved his position and, coming fast through the stretch, wore WOODLAKE down and was drawing clear in the final drive. WOODLAKE raced BELCROSS into defeat and drew away into a clear lead, but tired badly in the final sixteenth. SUPER-BUM raced well from the start- and had no mishaps. ANNIVERSARY closed up some ground. BELCROSS quit after setting the pace to the backstrctch. SUN HATHOR raced in closest pursuit of the winner and finished resolutely, but was easily held safe. SLICE finished with a rush and outgamed DARIUS in the final strides. The latter ran well.
