HAWTHORNE News and Gossip of the Day at Chicagos Famous Track HAWTHORNE RACE TRACK, Aug. 11. J. H. Stotler sold Ontario to Charles Koer-ner and the gelding ran in the colors of his new owner in the second race. Howard Oots returned today from Saratoga where he had made a few purchases at the yearling sales. Mose Lowenstein departed for Saratoga Sunday to be in attendance at some of the yearling sales and with a view to purchasing some of the youngsters. The Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes which close next Saturday are coming in for considerable atention by owners and are receiving ready response. G. Ellis, E. Horn and R. Yelton were the biggest money winning riders last week. Ellis drew 37 for his weeks work while F. Horn received 62 and R. Yelton 59. AVednesday the Chicago Athletic Association will have its day. The association lias sent out 2,500 notices to its members and there will, no doubt, be a great representation of the club. Thursday will be Illinois Athletic Club day and Friday, Yellow Cab day. President Plamondon of the clubhouse is making Saturday Club day, and it is likely that the clubhouse will bulge at the seams. Mr. Plamondon and his wife will entertain Thomas Taggart, the well-known Indianan, and a big party at luncheon. The International Stable will be shipped from here at the close of racing to Latonia where it will inaugurate its fall campaign. Little Celt is coming on slowly and Better Luck has recovered from his slight ailment and is again ready to race. Tuesday will be Rainbo Garden day at Hawthorne. Memories of Washington Park will be revived when two tally-hos will be driven, containing guests of the Rainbo Garden, to the grounds and parked in the infield. A good field has accepted the weights for the handicap. A sterling silver cup will go to the winning owner and there will be flowers for the winning rider,
