SARATOGA TURF NOTES SARATOGA SPRINGS, N. Y., Aug. 30. Jockey Mack Garner, considered the best rider in the West, arrived from his home in Covington yesterday to pilot Swope in tho Hopeful tomorrow and Sweet Park in the Futurity at Belmont Park. Jockey Mack Garner arrived from Cincinnati and will ride H. C. Fishers Swope in the renewal of the Hopeful Stakes. Garner will also have the mount on Mr. Mutt in the Saratoga Cup. Roscoe Goose has been engaged to train the stable of Mrs. George B. Cox which will race under the nom de course of the Park View Stable. The stable was a liberal buyer of yearlings this year. Fred Goode, agent of the stable, made the announcement this afternoon. An excellent excuse for the showing ot Willis Sharpe Kilmers Sunsard in the running of the Adirondack Handicap Wednesday was that he was severely kicked by Buttin In, while at the post. The injury is in the hock and it is one that will definitely keep the colt out of the Hopeful to be run Saturday, j Joseph E. Widener has added the three-year-old jumper. Barleycorn to his string. The purchase was made after a schooling Wednesday and the horse is considered one of the best prospects in training. Barleycorn is a bay gelding by Light Brigade-Five Aces, and was purchased from Logan Denny.
