Won driving; second and third the same. GAD began well and, moving up steadily while rounding the last turn, crossed over sharply and crowded MADDENSTOWN. then drew away into the lead and held MADDENSTOWN safe through the final sixteenth. MADDENSTOWN, away well, was crowded and forced to be taken back, but finished gamely on the outside and was wearing the winner down. GEORGE DE MAR raced prominently from . the start and ran a good race. BARNEY GOOGLE moved up with a rush in the first quarter and tired in the final drive. MYRTLE BELLE set a fast pace and tired badly. MASTER BILLY ran fairly well. VOX POPULI II. jumped well, but tired badly after making three rushes at the leader. LIEUTENANT SEAS ran a good race all the way, but blundered at three jumps. ALCHEMY set the pace briefly, then was taken back and saved under restraint and lost some ground on the stretch turn, but took the lead again and held it gamely through the final eighth and outgamed DARE SAY at the end. DARE SAY moved up resolutely after rounding the stretch turn and raced into a brief lead, but was tiring at the end. VENUS saved ground on the stretch turn and moved up resolutely, but was bumped at the eighth post and forced to be taken up. SWINGALONG began forwardly, but was saved to the stretch, then moved up steadily after having crowded FLUVANNA on the stretch turn when he moved over, then drew away to win in a canter. FLUVANNA showed great speed from the start in fast early pacemaking, but tired through the final eighth. INDIAN TRAIL ran well and worked his way up on the outside, but tried to crowd in to the inner rail through the stretch and tired. BONAPARTE ran a good race. BOBS MARY showed early speed. SWORD moved up steadily on the outside, made a Challenge at the eighth post, but was held safe to the end. GAY BEN raced prominently throughout, but tired. SCARE CROW was interfered with in attempting to come through on the inside at the eighth post, which cost him third money. LIGHTER was outrun all the way. PLEASANT MEMORIES net a fast pace and was running easily in front when her inexperienced rider went to the whip and threw the race away.
