NATIONAL STAKES ENTRIES Fine List of Two -Year-Olds Named for ,000 Race to Be . Run at Laurel Park. LAUREL., Md., Sept 4. The ,000 National Stakes, one of the features of the Laurel Park race meeting which will begin on October 7 and run through November 1, closed with 104 two-year-old nominations which represent forty-eight different interests. The nominations number about the same as made last year for this three-quarter of a mile race. Practically all the leading stables in the country have entered their youngsters for this rich prize, which likely will be decided on October 11. Harry Payne Whitney leads the list of nominations with eight Samuel Ross, of Washington, has entered five ; so has J. S. Cosden, with liberal nominations being made by the Kenton Stable, Willis Sharpe Kilmer, R. T. Wilson, Jr., the Xalapa Farm, the Belair Stud and others. Among some of the youngsters, which have earned fame so far on the turf, that are nominated are Glen Riddle Farms American Flag, the Fair Stables Nicholas, Willis Sharpe Kilmers Sunsard, recent winner of the rich Grand Union Hotel Stakes at Saratoga, and others. The National was first run in 1919 and the list of its winners included the following: 1919, On Watch, Kelsay, ,850, 1 :12 ; 1920, Careful, Kecgh, ,850, 1:14; 1921, Calamity Jane, Penman, ,300, 1 :13 ; 1922 Wilderness, Marinelli, 1924.sh,420, 1:13; 1923, Sara-zen, Kummer, ,780, 1:12. The conditions for the National, the owners and their nominations, follow: NATIONAL, ,000 ADDED. For two-year-olds. By subscription of 0 each; 0 additional to start; ,000 added, of which ,000 to second, 00 to third and 00 to fourth. Winners of two races of ,000 each, or a race of 0,000, 3 lbs; 5,0C0, 6 lbs.; two races of 0,000 each. 8 lbs. extra. Non-winners of ,000 allowed 4 lbs; ,500, 7 lbs.; ,500, if non-winners of three races other than selling or claiming, 10 lbs.; two such races, 13 lbs.; maidens, 16 lbs.
