LEADING ENGLISH JOCKEYS SPECIAL CABLEGRAM. LONDON, England, Sept 4. C. Elliott, the young jockey who two years ago, when an apprentice, finished the flat racing season in second place in the list of winning jockeys, and who last year ousted Steve Donoghue from the position of premier jockey, which place he had held for nine successive years, is the leading jockey this year, with C3 winners out of a total of 36D mounts, an average of 17.07. II. Wragg, with 57 winning starts, out of a total of 282, is in second place, having the high average of 20.21. R. A. Jones also rode 57 winners, but rode in 359 races, having an average of only 15.87. Steve Donoghue, who has the unique distinction of having ridden the winner of the Epsom Derby in three successive years, is in fourth place, with 5G victories in 392 races, an average of 14.28. The flat racing season has still three months to go before it closes, concluding on Saturday, November 22, with the Manchester and Lingfield Park meetings.
