Won easily; second and third driving. SWORD followed POOR SPORT closely and, moving up resolutely on the stretch, passed the latter and, taking the lead, drew away and easily held the race safe at the end. NORMAL raced under restraint in tiie early running and slipped through on the inside on the stretch turn, but tired under his weight near the finish. BOWMAN raced closer up than usual and came wide on the turn, but finished gamely. MEADOW LAWN finished well. GLADYS V. closed a big gap. POOR SPORT quit after leading to the far turn. PLOUGH BOY was outrun for the first three-quarters, but improved his position on the outside while rounding the stretch turn and, coming fast and resolutely through the Stretch, impeded PEPP slightly, but won going away. FRIGATE was unruly at the post and r.nseatcd his rider twice, then ran a good race, lut tired near the end. PEPP began slowly and moved up gamely on. the inside, but was in close quarters for seventy yards in the stretch. SUN AUDIENCE showed high speed in leading to the stretch, but quit badly. BOTHER displayed the most speed from the start and made the pace fast, but tired badly and barely outfinished EDISTO. The latter finished with a rush. PEANUTS finished gamely. PEDAGOGUE was hemmed in next to the inner rail and could not find racing rcom. DICK WHITTINGTON showed speed. VENUS, closest up from the start, saved ground on the turns, but came wide while rounding the stretch turn and forced ANTICIPATION out with her, then took the lead and held it gamely to the end. MARYLAND BELLE was outpaced in the early running, but saved ground on the stretch turn and finished fastest of all. ANTICIPATION showed improvement and set a fast early pace, but tired in the final drive. LADY AUDREY dropped back after going well for seven-eighths. THEODOSIA and RIMPLE were always outrun. STAR LORE was shuffled back after the start and fprced to come on the outside, but finished fastest of all. THUNDERING showed the most speed from the start, but tired badly in the final sixteenth. DESPOT ran a good race all the way. ROCKSTONE showed improvement. PADRAIG quit. JOHN S. MOSBY showed early speed. SILVER FOX was crowded out of contention while rounding the far turn and knocked back. Scratched 82986 Arno, 114; 82595 Volcano, 114. Overweight Rockstone, 1 pounds.
