The latter was fractious at the post and began well, but was outrun. early, then saved ground on. the turn, but .tired after taking the lead at the eighth post. DICK WH1TTINGTON raced well and finished last. RED HAWK ran a good race all the way. LAWRENCE jumped well-all. the way, but swerved over repeatedly against ELZEAR arid interfered with him "considerably, for which, he ivas disqualified after, finishing first.- ELZEAR was poorly ridden, but raced well and finished gamely despite repeated interference. CORN PRODUCTS was always outrun. WHITE ASH refused at the seventh jump, but finished the course. HORNSEA fell at the fth Jump. Won driving; second and third the same. HCMORETTE raced into the lead with a rush on the outside and, after having caused a jam, drew away into the lead and outstayed ESCOBA DORO in the final drive. The latter moved up resolutely when clear and took the lead at the eighth post, but tired badly in the final twenty yards. VENUS was crowded on the far turn and came wide when entering the stretch, hut finished fast. LADY AUDREY ran a good, race all. the way. HOME STAR closed up-considerable ground in the final eighth. TESTER showed the. most speed from the- start and, makingMhe pace fast, raced into a long lead, but began to tire through the final eighth and was hard ridden to the end. CYCLOPS raced in closest pursuit of the winner and, coming .with a rush -in the stretch, finished fast. RIGEL dropped back in the first half, but finished with a rush. LOCKERBIE gained steadily on the inside and took the lead at the sixteenth post, but tired badly. GLADYS V. was taken wide all the way and finished fastest .of all. THE PURITAN II. began slowly.
