CROWNING EVENT OF 1924 International Special No. 3, to Be Run at Latonia, Holds Out Great Promise. LATONIA, Ky., Sept. 22. Col. M. J. "Winn, general manager of the Kentucky Jockey Club, accompanied by Col. Andrew Vennie, resident manager of Churchill Downs, will leave Thursday night for New York to witness the running on Saturday of the International Special No 2 at Aqueduct, in which Epinard, the French champion, will measure strides at one mile with Americas leading thoroughbreds. Col. "Winn saw Epinards initial performance in this country and was greatly impressed with the speed and courage he displayed in that contest. "While he is anxious to see Epinard meet Wise Counsellor, Ladkin, Zev, Mad Hatter and the other rivals at one mile, Col. "Winns real purpose in going east at this time is to urge owner "Wertheimer and trainer Leigh to ship Epinard to Latonia as soon as possible after the second special is run and have him complete his training at this track where the 0,000 International Special No. 3, which will be run on Saturday, October 11. He also wants the owners of the others entries to make an early shipment to Latonia. Among the number is Sarazen, Mrs. "W. K. "Vanderbilts brilliant three-year-old, which beat "Wise. Counsellor in a mile race at Saratoga and which was not eligible for the first and second specials, because he is a gelding. He is getting skillful preparation at the hands of Max Hirsch and is a sure starter in the Latonia event. "With a field made up of Epinard, "Wise Counsellor, Sarazen, Ladkin, Black Gold, Chilhowee, My Own, Zev, Mad Hatter, Baffling, Altawood, My Pay, Princess Doreen, Glide, Dare Say and Little Chief, the 0,000 International Special No. 3 will be the crowning turf event of the year.
