-x WOODBINE DIRECTORS MEET Shareholders of Ontario Jockey Club Satisfied With Results of 1924 Racing Season. TORONTO, Ont., Nov. 15. The annual meeting of the; share holders of the Ontario Jockey Club was held Friday at the office of the company, Imperial Bank building, Toronto, with Mr. A. E. Dyment in the chair. The chairman referred to the very great loss the club and the sport of racing had sustained in the death of Colonel William Hen-drie. The attendance for the past year suffered in comparison with that of 1923, due in a measure to, the inclement weather experienced at the time of the fall meeting. However, the character of previous meetings of the Ontario Jockey Club had been maintained, with no reduction in stakes or purses, 60,-362.50 being distributed during the past year. For Canadian-bred and Canadian-owned horses, 1924.sh4,700 had been set aside. The directors took pride in the character of their meetings, which feeling is shared by the race-going public of Toronto and the whole of this province. New stabling, thoroughly modern and comfortable in every respect, ha,d been added, so that there were now 685 box stalls at Woodbine Park. The steeplechase course had been entirely renewed and drained and new premises, doubling the parking space for members cars, made available. The Thoroughbred stallions placed- in the rural districts of the province have been bred to a large number of mares during the past year. Cash prizes amounting to 00 have been offered at the fall fairs in these districts for the yearlings and foals sired by these horses. Supporting this work, the four jockey clubs of Ontario, namely Ontario Jockey Club, Windsor Jockey Club, Hamilton Jockey Club and Niagara Racing Association, feel they are being repaid by the good results to the "light horse breeding industry" of this province. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year : President, A. E. Dyment ; vice-presidents, D. King Smith. George M. Hendrie ; directors, George W. Beardmore, R. J. Christie, W. G. Goderham, Joseph Kilgour, Ed. F. Seagram.
