SAN DIEGO, Calif., Nov. 30. A possible chance for an argument there. How would Eontaud do? Or Tester? Weve been reading this fall of all-star baseball nines and all-star football elevens. What horse would you nominate as the best three-year-old of tho year? For the cup races youd be certain to take Altawood. But would you prefer Sarazen to Altawood for the Latonia Championship? Who would be your preference as a miler? Ladkin, likely enough. What of Bonnie Omar? Or Moonraker? No? Then you might name us the right one. And, finally, your choice for a sprinter to run for 1924.sh,000. This is the time of year when the devotees of sports other than racing set about selecting "all star" teams. Always there is considerable controversy over the merits of candidates for certain positions. And we wonder just what horses would be selected for an all-star racing stable by a committee of experts. Sarazen, of course. Youd likely have to concede him also the best ten furlong horse of 1924. Ladkin also is a sprinter. One well may doubt if even Sarazen could have outstepped the Belmont colt six to eight furlongs late In September. To run for an autumn three-year-old filly classic the choice of most turfmen would probably be Princess Doreen. Or would you prefer Priscilla Ruley one mile and three furlongs? The two-year-old selection would likely be either Stimulus or Master Charlie. Our "own is Stimulus, a sound horse always. Mother Goose would likely get the call among the fillies. Choice of a steeplechaser is not so easy. Official handicappers this fall were inclined to rate them Not . Much, Dan IV. Our preference would be the former. Now a chance for the traders, the men who think of horses in selling values. What Jiorse would you select as the best ,000 top-and-bottom, mile-and-a-furlong horse of the year? An all-star stable should have a crack mudder in reserve. Would Black Gold be your choice? Or would you send Sarazen out in preference even to race Black Gold through a tough, holding track? If our all-star stable, consisting of Sarazen, Altawood, Black Gold, Ladkin, Princess Doreen, Stimulus, Mother Goose, Not Much, Moonraker and Eontaud is not truly an all-star aggregation, then send us your selections today. Sarazen and Altawood, between them, would have accounted for a three-year-old championship at a mile and a half; Sarazen an all-aged champion at ten furlongs; and Altawood a cup race at two miles and a quarter. For the son of Master Robert would have been a tough horse to handle one mile and three-quarters the day that Sarazen beat him and JEpinard and Mad Play in the ten furlong International. That another hundred yards would have seen him second in that race, there is little doubt But could he have overtaken the Vanderbilt crack in four additional furlongs?
