SARA TOGAENTRIES FOR 1925 Record List of Nominations Received for Next Years Stakes Total of 1921 Already on Hand With More in Mail Over One Hundred Nominators Represented NEW YORK, N. Y., Dec. 4. With a few distant points yet to be heard from and a total of 1,921 entries already to hand for the stakes offered by the Saratoga Association for the Improvement of the Breed of Horses, that closed on December 1, there is every evidence that the record of ljS79 received a year ago will be far surpassed. This showing is in keeping with the returns recently recorded by the Westchester Racing Association, most of whose stakes filled better than in any previous year in the history of the organization. It all indicates another year of progress for the turf, which has of late made many new friends. It is also a guarantee that there will be an abundance of good material for the various fixtures to be decided during the twenty-six days of racing at the Spa. Racing secretary Schaumburg has been waiting the arrival of entries from distant points. Included in the list are those of J. H. Rossiter of California and the Middleneck Farm of pJulius Fleischmann, which are known to be in the mail. The Middleneck Farm entries were posted in London several days ago and are now on the Atlantic. The patronage accorded the stakes of the Saratoga Association is fresh proof of the popularity of the organization with the rank and fiie of owners and trainers. Most of the prominent turfmen of the country count tho year lost that does not include a trip to Saratoga. The splendid climate, excep-I tional stabling facilities, pure water and the fact that Saratoga is the yearling thoroughbred market of the United States, all appeal to those who follow the turf, whether as owner, breeder or mere onlooker. Old friends meet and have an abundance of time to visit and exchange views. Under the progressive management of Richard T. Wilson and his associates, there is nothing overlooked that tends to preserve the homelike atmosphere for which Saratoga is noted. In all 107 individual nominators are so far represented in the Saratoga entries and it is not surprising that many of them are from the West From the day the course was opened in 1SG4, Saratoga Springs has been the stamping ground of the turfmen of Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri and California. WHITNEY ENTRIES LARGEST. Harry Payne Whitney leads in the volume of entries, as usual, his total being 124. Of these, twenty-eight are in the Hopeful and twenty each in the United States and Grand Union Hotel Stakes of 1925. His patronage of the Travers and Alabama Stakes of 1926 has been generous also, nineteen and thirteen, respectively, for these great three-year-old features having been made. The Rancocas Stable of Harry F. Sinclair, is second in the list of nominators with a total of 117, while W. R. Coe is next with 79. Then follow Gifford A. Cochran, 64; Audley Farm Stable, Gl ; Greentree Stable, 58 ; August Belmont and J. E. Madden, each with 52 ; W. J. Salmon, 44 ; James Butler, 43 ; Marshall Field and R; L. Gerry, each with 40 ; J. E. AVidener and William Ziegler, each with 39 ; Lawrence Waterbury, W. S. Kilmer and J. K. L. Ross, each with 34 ; William Daniel and the Laurel Park Stud Stable each with 31 ; Samuel Ross, 30 ; Belair Stud Stable, 29 ; Glen Riddle Farm Stable, 28 ; G. D. Wide-ner, 27, and Robert S. Clark, 23. MANY NEWC03IERS ON LIST. Perry Belmont, whose colors have not been seen in years, has nominated the yearling Balkan, by Hourless Balancoire, by his old favorite, Ethelbert, in the United States Hotel and Hopeful Stakes and the Grab Bag Handicap. Other newcomers to the turf whose names are on the entry list are the Goode-stone Stable, Martin Madden, R. M. Eastman. S. K. Nichols, F. D. McElroy, Fox Catcher Farms and Fal de Saint Phallc. Every good yearling in the United States and Canada is nominated for the Hopeful Stakes, whose total exceeds that of last year materially. This stake will be worth more than ?50,000. It is one of the most valuable fixtures offered for two-year-olds in this country. It is natural that the total for the Hopeful Stakes should exceed the entries for the United States Hotel and Grand Union Hotel Stakes, but these fine fixtures have surpassed the records of a year ago and will continue to hold their pride of place on tho Saratoga program. Tho juveniles regarded with such high favor by their owners are by the cream of American stallions and some of the best of Great Britain and France. The majority of the juveniles have not been named as yet as owners have until March 1 next to perform this duty. Some of the sires represented are Man o AVar, Fair Play, The Finn, Wrack, Ballot, Negofol, Hourless, Omar tContinued on twelfth pase. SARATOGA ENTRIES FOR 1925 Continued from first page.
