CHANGED CONDITIONS Rain of Monday Night Leaves Havana Track Muddy. True American and Delhimar Win by Wide Margins: Mare Hullo Makes Good. HAVANA, Cuba, Dec. 23. The races at Oriental Park this afternoon were run over a track muddy on the inside and slow oil the outside half. Heavy rains which fell last night were responsible for the change in the going. Judging by the time made in, the different races track conditions improved as the afternoon progressed. By Thursday the going should be fast again. The fifth race furnished an interesting contest. It -was nip and tuck to the last eighth, with half of the field closely grouped. First Annie Lyle showed the way, with Muskallonge in closest pursuit, while Irish Frieze and Neptune were not far away. At the head of the stretch the latter two challenged and attempted to go to the front, however without success. Then in a twinkling things began to happen. There was a general closing up, and from out of tin bunch appeared True American, fresh and ready after racing under restraint from thu start. Once in front he quickly drew away and was home the winner by a wide margin, while Muskallonge outlasted Annie Lyle for second place. The six-year-old mare Hullo was an even-money favorite in the three-quarters of the fourth race and she made good as was expected. A. L. Kirbys War Garden set the early pace, but his lead was only on sufferance, for when Neal called on Hullo, tho daughter of Huon quickly displaced him and drew clear at the end. This pair was far in advance of the others. Kidnap easily taking third place. The third race fell to Hutchison. He seemed to be favored by the going and after racing Without into defeat held on to a length advantage to the end though he was tiring in the final strides. Locarno raced close up from the start and finished fast, but could not overtake the leader. The short end of the purse was won by Forty Two. TRACK SUITS DICKEY LEGS. Old Joe Joe found the track just suited for his dickey legs and spread-eagled the field in the first. He outran the others at tho start and went into a long lead which ho kept increasing until he was straightened out in the home stretch, then he began to tire. Connors was pretty busy on him throughout, the last sixteenth keeping him going and at the end he had an advantage of three lengths-over Joe Campbell, which in turn beat Crest-wood Boy a length for place. Corenne came from behind in the stretch run in the second and beat the pacemaker. Beg Pardon, by a long margin. The latter outran his opponents until straightened out in the home stretch then began to tire and at the finish was driving the limit to beat Miriam Wood by a neck for second place. When Beg Pardon was pulled up it was found that he had gone lame in the race which of course had accounted for his tiring so badly. The concluding race of the afternoon resulted in an easily achieved success for i Delhimar, the even-money favorite, which won off by himself, seven lengths in advanca of the others. Serbian was second, outlasting St. Paul, after a spirited drive for the remaining honors. Ealman changed hands after he won on Sunday. M. Sanders secured him on a claim of 00. Frank Lounewite, attending the races at Oriental Park, fell at his hotel and sustained injuries of a serious nature. Mr. Lounewite is a Mason and an Elk. Black Dinah, in the band of L. B. Phelps, Louisville turfman, will not be sent to the races for three weeks, the mare having out-strided herself, causing serious injuries. Jockey Alonzo is no longer an apprentice Jockey J. Carroll is under a suspension for five days by the starter for disobedience at the post. J. W. Hayes arrived from New Orleans with the racers Metal, Eethlehem Steel and Snowden. Crescent was kicked while at the barrier in her last start by Countess Gtaridge, which accounted for her being pulled up so lame. Crestwocd Boy, .owned by 32. E. Major, is in a critical condition, an affliction of thu kidneys developing suddenly.
