RUBY MARSH was saved close up behind the pacemakers to the stretch and responded with a rush when called on, but tired right at the end and just lasted to withstand the challenge of ROCKY. The latter came wide when entering the stretch, but finished fast and gaining. GOLDEN. BALL was much used in setting tha early pace and racing THE ABBOT into defeat and tired. GONWITHIM saved ground while rounding the far turn and when entering the stretch, but tired after taking a clear lead. BODANZKY raced wide on the turns, but finished fast. VARIATION made a game challenge at the head of the stretch, but tired in the last eighth. PARVENU was very fractious at the post, but raced well and finished gamely. PLENTYCOOS meed poorly.
