LATEST TURF GOSSIP FROM NEW ORLEANS NEW ORLEANS, La., Dec. 20. Tommy Oliphant, well known horseman, left Sunday night for Miami. Mose Goldblatt and Bobby Bowers returned from Cincinnati, where they had gone for the holiday period. James McLaughlin, former star jockey, who will serve as one of the patrol judges at the Fair Grounds, arrived Monday from his home in New York. Jochcys 13. Scobic, R. Holloway, J. OBrien, .7, Stevens and M. Llebgold, will ride at tho Miami meeting and will leave for ho now Florida track after the close of the Jefferson Park meeting. The Fair Grounds stewards met this morning and pass?d upon a number of applications for licenses by trainers and jockeys. Several of the licenses were held up pending further inquiry. Dave Gideon, who In he early 90s raced a noted stable and whoso colors were carried to victory In famous slakes, was an arrival during tho day. Thomas J. Shaw was another arrival from the E:Lst, and will be here for the remainder of the meeting.
