BELMONT STAKES SCHEDULE i Westchester Racing Association Announces Order of Running. ♦ Pamphlet Issued Containing Metropolitan Weights and Other Valuable New York News. - - ♦ NEW YORK. N. Y„ March 31.— The Wes*- chester Racing Association has issued in i pamphlet form important information in connection with the spring meeting at Belmont Park, which Is scheduled to open on Friday, Ma j 22, and end on Saturday. June ML In addition to the weights for the Metropolitan Handicap, which will be the feature of the opening day, the schedule of the stakes and the dates on which they will be run is given. The pamphlet also has the best automobile routes to the course, and all the particulars in connection with train service from both the Pennsylvania and Flatbush avenue stations. For good measure the racing dates on The Jockey Club circuit during the coming year are recorded in this timely piece of publicity. 3IETROPOLITAN WKIGHTS. Many who receive the leaflet will find it worth while to detach the sheet containing the Metropolitan Handicap weights. There has been much discussion on the merits of the various candidates for this fine old race, which had its inaugnral a generation ago at Morris Park. That Sarazen has been adjudged two pounds better than Ladkin at a mile, the weights being 128 to 120. has not been forgotten by the experts, while the fact that Wise Counsellor is rated next with 124 pounds brings into relief the fact that this trio embraces the winners of the International series of races, in which Epinard ran second last year. Ordinance is considered the equal of Wise Counsellor by Mr. Vosburgh, and Chilhowee, whose form in Lower California has been good, is in at 123. A feature of the Metropolitan weights that probably escaped notice when they were first made public is accentuated by the fact that Hedgefence. the recent winner of the Tijuana Derby, is placed at the head of the list of three-year-olds, with 109 pounds. This is one more than Stimulus, one of the acknowledged cracks of 1!»24, is asked to carry, and three more than the crack Westerner. Captain Hal. There is a lot of interest in the Metropolitan, which has an added value of $." .000 and closed with 102 nominations, of which nineteen were declared. WITHERS STAKES MAY 23.
