QUATRAIN TRAINER RESIGNS Tom Harmons Sudden Relinquishment of Position Big Surprise to Turf Followers. LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 19.— The most startling turf news of the last week was the sudden resignation on Saturday morning of Tom Harmon as trainer of the Frederick | Johnson stable, which includes the Kentucky j I Derby choice, Quatrain. The relinquishment j of the position by Mr. Harmon came with such suddenness that horsemen were loath to give the report credence, until it was verified by owner Johnson. The latter, in admitting the truth of the report, made no comment, and the reason for the severance of relations between the two men could not be ascertained. Mr. Harmon succeeded John | Lowe as trainer for Mr. Johnson last summer, when the stable was racing in the East, and, since taking over the horses, he has been quite successful. He prepared and saddled Quatrain for all his races. Owner Johnson, who usually superintends the training of his horses and is familiar with a trainers duties, will look after the animals until he secures a successor to Mr. Harmon.
