• SUCCESSOR TO H. E. KNAPP NEW YORK. N. Y., April 19.— At a meeting of the stewards of The Jockey Club Thursday afternoon, at which there was a full attendance with the exception of Richard T. Wilson, William Woodward was elected vice-chairman of the The Jockey Club to succeed EL K. Knapp, recently resigned. Mr. Woodward is one of the youngest and most progressive of the members of The Jockey Club and has been prominent in its councils since his election as a steward. He is the owner of the Belair Stud in Maryland and is interested with A. B. Hancock in the Eller.slie and Claiborne Studs. Ho races in the name of the Belair Stud Sta/de and last year was represented by tbJM good three-year-olds Aga Khan and Frist-ilia Ruley and the crack two-year-old filly, Beatrice. For the size of his stable its success was conspicuous.
