CHURCHILL DOWNS NOTEsJ LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 22. L. F. OLeary, owner of a small stable, has arrived from Huntington. Pay Sand, a two-year-old owned by H. Webb, trainer of Black Gold, worked a fast three-eighths in :36% yesterday. Col. Arthur Boards good handicap horse Bourbon Boy picked up a nail a few days ago and as a result trainer Lon Jones will have to let up on his training. Gamble, the filly that will represent the W. Zeigler, Jr., stable in the Kentucky Oaks, worked a half-mile in :50%, which pleased trainer Speirs. Howard Oots has sold the four-year-old Norseland to a local merchant, and the horse has been turned over to H. Neusteter to train. George Phillips, trainer of the Beac m Manor Stable, which recently arrived at Douglas Park from Miami, is among the latest arrivals, having motored all the way from Miami. R L. Baker came over from Lexington to arrange for stabling room for his horses at Churchill Downs. He reported his horses at Lexington to be in splendid condition. Jockey W. Charles, one of the leading riders at the recent Havana meeting and who rode at the Huntington meeting, returned to his home in this city. He will go to Lexington to ride. Wavering, the dam of Captain Hal, which was bought recently at auction by Messrs. Phelps and MgM of this city, has been sent to H. P. Headleys farm, near Lexington, to be bred to Tryster. Picarroon, winner of the Oraven Stakes, and a strong favorite for the Epsom Derby, is related to Quatrain, both having the same granddaddy. Picarroon is by Bepho, whose aire was Marco, while Quatrain is by Omar Khayyam, whose sire also was Marco.
