| | BY SHORTEST OF MARGINS Fair Break Beats Double Shot in Most Exciting Finish. # Sunny Mill Outlasts Halu In Keen Stretch strangle — Claiming Race Card at Maple Ucights. ♦ CLEVELAND, Ohio, May 28.— A series of claiming races made up the card at Maple Heights Park this afternoon, only two of which were over a Ions distance of ground. The first of this pair was productive of the most exciting finish of the day and was run as the fifth. J. Pierces Fair Break, which led from end to end, was awarded the decision over Double Shot by the shortest of margins, but only through jockey H. Longs superior fin- i ish. Double Shot made a game effort in the stretch to overhaul the winner and it was not until the official placing was displayed that the result could be accurately determined. Sunny Hill and Halu also provided a keen stretch struggle in the other race over a longer route, run as the seventh. Sunny Hill proved the gamer in the final drive and headed the early leaders in the last seventy yards. Boomerang showed the way by a comfortable margin all the last half mile of the sixth. Clever Seth outlasted the tiring Jaunebar in the closing stages for second place. Willies Maid displayed the most speed .if the maiden two-year-olds in the opening dash at all stages. At the end she was doing her best to stall off George D. Chopsticks cut out the running until mid-]way of the stretch in the second race, with Carlos Enrique in close pursuit. When the final test came Carlos Enrique had the most in reserve and drew away to a handy victory. Dextrose scored her third successive victory of the meeting when she romped home-to an easy victory in the third race. Miss Emmert held the remainder safe during Iftn run home. Taking command In the first eighth. Esther Grindell had the speed of her opponents for the remainder of the way in the fourth and won handily.
