ANOTHER SEAGRAM SUCCESS ♦ Kings Court Carries Its Colors to Victory in Connaught Cup. • Iroquois Plate to Jane Fly — Another Big Crowd Gathers at Woodbine Turk to Witness Good Raring. TORONTO, Ont. May 2S.— Under th» stimulus of the warm sun and the warmest day of the meeting, a crowd of over tejn thousand turned out at Woodbine on Thursday to withness the elecision of an off day card, headed by the Connaught Cup for Canadian foaled at a mile and a sixteenth, and the Lion Heart Steeplechr.se, both of which had ,000 added. So far under adverse conditions the attendance had been above the. mark of the last few years and even an ordinary . card made its appeal today to a crowd above the average. The Seagram Stable continued its winning streak when Kings Court proved an easy winner over Wedding Prince and Oakomine in the Connaught Cup Handicap for Cana-dian-breds at one mile and a sixteenth for three-year-olds and upward. Kings Court followed Harry Giddings Oakomine and Wedding Prince in the early stages. Kennedy sent the six-year-old son of Galatine — Court Maid into the lead in the stretch and he easily held command to the end. The first three horses completely dominated the running, but Rallim came from far back and just missed taking third money. June Fly, the Hamilton-owned mare, was made favorite in the Iroquois Plate, another race for horses foaled in Canada. The San-some color bearer was obliged to come from behind to get the verdict from Trail Blazer and Irish Belle. TRAIL BLAZER IACEMAKF.R. Trail Blazer, racing in the Thorncliffe Stable colors, set the early pace and was closely followed down the back stretch by Tiger Tim, Plymouth Rock and Irish Belle. In the stretch June Fly made her move and overhauled Trail Blazer to win handily while Irish Belle was just as easily third. After a long delay at the post in the Alexandra Purse at three-quarters, first on the days program, the field was off well and E. F. Whitneys Gymkhana, in front all the way, just lasted long enough to stall off the rush of Amor Patriae to win by a head, with Ensign third. Perkiomen won his second race of th" meeting for H. Curley when the Lion Heart S:eeplechase fell to him in a rather easy manner, with Flying Frog second and Bash-don third. The race furnished the daily fall when liashdon and Cavendish went down at the fourteenth • jump. Rowan, who was astride Bashdon, was able to walk back to the jockeys room, but Watkins, who was up on Cavendish, required the assistance of the ambulance, Bashdon was remounted by a stable boy. cleared the fifteenth jump and qualified for third position of the purse. As there was fourth money another racing lad captured Cavendish, but he went overboard as he turned the gelding to the jump. Still another grabbed Cavendish and finished within the time limit without mishap. FAVORITES IN ASCENDANCY. When W. J. Salmons Fair Play colt Display won the Patricia Pasta at five furlongs, it marked the success of the third favorite of the day. Sunny Maid was an easy second over the pacemaker. Facet. When the webbing was released, Facet rushed in the lead and increased the margin, but at the stretch turn J. D. Mooney called on Display and the Salmon colt had no difficulty in overtaking the tiring Facet. Halt way down the stretch Sunny Maid nailed Facet, but could not overtake the leader. In the Mayflower Plate at three-quarters, Carlton was the easiest sort of a winner, making it a double for the E. F. Whitney colors. Pat Casey came from the rear to get the second portion of the purse while E. J. Morrows Note o- Love got up in the last stride to take third place from New Beauty, the early pacemaker. After a walk up start. New Beauty was first to show and opened up a two length lead in the back stretch, but Carlton took the lead at the three-eighths post and just cantered to the finish to win. The tSSM was 1:13%. After five favorites and a second choice had scored, Ceylon Prince, an outsider, won tho Leamington Plate, at a mile and seventy yards, with Setting Sun second and Roseate II. third. The Cherokee II. and Ceylon Prime were showing the way at the first turn with Flying Cloud in third place. In the back stretch Ceylon Prince took a one length lead. Rounding the lower turn Flying Cloud moved up but Butwell called on the Carman gelding and he came away to be an easy winner. *
