ARCADY VICTORIOUS • Avoids Interference and Captures the Quickstep Stakes. » Mary Kinkead, Lucky at Start, a Surprise Winner of the Clipsetta Stakes. » DATONIA, Ky., June 6.— Harry Payne Whitneys Arcady, a winner here in his previous start, accounted for the Quickstep Stakes, attracting some of the best sprinters in these parts, but being forced out to beat Certain and Reputation following. Arcady was lucky to avoid all interference and also to be away forwardly, which enabled him to lead the entire way. The race was replete with roughing. Will Band, as a result, was badly cut down and probably terminated his racing career. There were twelve starters and they were unruly at the post. The start found them jammed, some being forced back immediately and their winning chances practioily destroyed. The leading trio at the start, Arcady, Certain and Reputation, which managed to have a clear course, dominated the running throughout and divided the principal portions of the prize. Such highly regarded ones as Knergy, Supremus, Cyclops and Queen of the Forest never had much opportunity, the start affecting the f rst niraed three and Queen of the Forest was pulled up for nearly the entire way by her timid rider. She closed an immense gap in the stretch when Hum did allow her to run freely in the stretch. The net amount of the slake to the winner was ,500. CAMDEN COI.OKS PROMINENT. The Tipsetta Stakes, which preceded the Quikstep Stakes, wis won by J. N Camdens Mary Kinkead. which was lucky to move away from the others with a rush immediately after the start and continuing gamely won in runaway style from Cupids Curse and Helens Babe. Mary Kinkead was an SSSbnanW and her victory was in the nnti:re of I surprise. She displayed a worthy performance, but sh" was aided consid rably bv the clear course sir* enjoyed. One of the main sufferers as a result of interference in tiie race was Belle. She was knocked back soon after the start and it practically Fpelled her elimination. Malvtna B. and Panola were another pair to suffer as a rsjssH of the interfe-ence. Todays splendid racing offering, that included the double stake feature, wan marred considerably as a result of the sudden storm that developed after th- third race and converted the track Into sloppy going. The downpour also caused serce Inconvenience to the big crowd, but it temper* d the intense heat and caused a great relief. Considering that the storm became imminent before race time, it was surprising that such a big attendance should be on hatid. The third race was run in the height of the storm. The heavy darkness almost precluded vision of the field racing. It was at a mile and an eighth and Off Spring was the winner after a hard drive to keep in advance of the Cast finishing Sincere. The latter w.13 allowed to drop far out of it in the early stages, but she came steadily In the stretch and would have won at a longer distance Wrack Hay. which had been a strong contender from the start, retained third place. The opening pair of races, run over a fa-it track, enabled the stable of J. W. Parrish ti score a double with Down Town and Percentage. The first named met some fairly good sprinters and he had to be ridden out to beat Announcement, with Mikado in third place. Percentages victory was scored in the most easy fashion of any winner during the afternoon. He was also the shortest paid winner during the day. He raced away in the stretch to win as his rider pleased, with the next four bsSMlsi by TIM Engineer, noses apart, Mib Medea finishing In third place. MOKE CAMIIEN MTOCBMBS. Former Senator .T. N.
