LIZETTE PROVIDES UPSET Score Unexpected Triumph in Main Race at Omaha — Stables for Reno Meeting OMAHA, Neb.. June 16.— Lizettc. the California-bred marc, which races for Mrs. C B. Irwin of Cheyenne. Wyo., upset calculations In the fifth race at Ak-Sar-Be-n Park, which mustered together the beat field of the day. In this Idle Seth was the popular choice, with Gad next in demand. Iord Valentine and Recover came in for some support, but Lizettc was almost friendless. When the start came the alert Jockey C. Gross sent Idle Seth to the front and this three-year-old set a fast pace for t..c goins which prevailed, l.izette was the closest to the pacemakers thundering hoofs, but rounding the last turn the mare moved up steadily with the result that she drew up on even terms with the Jones Stock Farm Stable entry midway in the stretch. It was then that jockey Edwards called on Lizette for the supreme effort and in a flash the hind-some mare had taken command and victory was hers. Idle Seth was kept busy to save second place from lord Valentine, which finished with a rush and only failed to take second place by a neck. Gad and Recover raced disappointingly and were never serious contenders. The fourth race resulted in a tight fit when Marble. Recruit and Begular Girl finished heads apart. Bungoorge was the surprise of the third when that notorious bleeder scored, paying almost 25 to 1. At the conclusion of this meeting seven carloads of thoroughbreds will leave for Reno to participate in the racing at that thriving western city, which commences July 1 to run for thirty-four days. Among the horsemen that have signed to ship west are R. Hollenbeck, U. S. Wishard, R. Ripley. William "Broncno" Billy Anderson. Captain Beckwith, Dr. McCrosson, H. K. McGregor. T. Holloway, Mrs. Monahan, Mike Hyufy and others.
