FIRST DAY OF FAMOUS ASCOT RACES LONDON, Kng.. June 16. — Fine clear weather brought out an enormous crowd for the first day of the Asrot meeting this afternoon. The going was rather hard, but otherwise conditions for the snort were ideal. Lord Derbys Mundelh-u. ridden by Weston and carrying 110 pounds, won the Ascot Stakes in a driving finish by half a length. The Trial Stakes went to Lord Clam-hy.: Sundt rland by a length and a half. Bucks Y. osaaa and El Cacique divided the remainder of the purse. Lord Derbys colors wore also carried to Vict ry in the Coventry Stakes when Colorado won aasttjf by three 1 ngths. This colt was also ridden by Weston. The honorable horge L.inibton and Weston shared honors.
