SEQUEL IN THRILLER Captures Principal Contest at Aurora in Close Finish Cup o Tea Lowers Three Quarters QuartersTrack Track Record Annie Lyle Lyleby by a Nose AURORA 111 June 23 Coming with a rush in the last sixteenth J W Brackmans gray mare Sequel the public choice was up In time to win the Rose Marie Claiming Handicap todays best attraction in the most thrilling finish of the afternoon L T Coopers Senor was second and J Bennetts The Cheetah third with Statler fourth Lady Inez the only other starter was well beaten Starter Morrissey soon found them in line and they were off with Senor setting out to make the pace The Cheetah was at his flank however and Statler moved up with them going to the first turn but being on the outside was forced slightly wide At the half mile ground it was still the Cooper colt showing the way but Statler found an open j ing on the Inside at this stage and passed The Cheetah and it appeared as if he might I catch the winner The Cheetah moved into 1 second position again at the stretch turn and j was a head in front of Statler with Senor a j length in advance Midway of the stretch j j it was seen that Sequel was gaining fast and i catching the leaders twenty yards from the I finish had a half length advantage at tho j end and was going fastest of all The next j three were heads apart for the remaining honors but Senor was game and took second place while Statler tiring slightly had to be content with fourth money moneyThe The weather was made quite cool by tho stiff breeze which blew into the grandstand but it was not uncomfortable The track re ¬ mained fast and a larger than usual off day crowd was present SCORES AT LOXG PRICE PRICEBoys Boys Believe Me was the first long priced winner of the day he paying 23SO when he defeated the six sprinters opposed to him in i the sixth race He caught Little Alfred after going a quarter and racing well in front was never in serious danger of defeat Little Alfred easily held the others safe while Winnie O Vynn gained steadily and was up in time to be third Savoy making his first start in a year was for some unknown rea ¬ son the medium of heavy speculation The past performances show that this gelding has been beaten off in his last half dozen starts and he lived up to his reputation today and finished last lastA A field of six juveniles went to the barrier in the third race and a spirited contest re ¬ sulted Northern Miss being victress while Tamale Dick outlasted Vacation Time for third place Tamale Dick acted badly at the post but began quickly closely followed by Northern Miss Rounding the first turn Vacation Time was rushed to the front on the outside while Tamale Dick was second next to the rail with the ultimate winner in closa quarters between them Turning for home 1 the latter found an opening and catching the leaders obtained a length advantage which she held to the finish while Tamale Dick proved to be gamer than Vacation Time and took second money moneyFAUSTO FAUSTO ALL THE WAY WAYFausto Fausto just galloped in front all the way to win the fourth race the longest event of the afternoon Red Squirrel challenged turn ¬ ing for home but Anderson on Fausto let out a wrap and it was easy for the latter to draw again and hold him safe Red Squirrel lasted long enough to hold second place safe from Mac O Boy which finished going gamely Clock Stocking was beaten off while Bygone Days the only other starter propped when the start came and was practically left but followed his opponents opponentsThe The opening race brought together a large band of maiden threeyearolds and over and the public choice Jolly Boy was winner he taking command at the beginning and andleading leading all the way Ellen Jane a field horse finished second after showing a good effort and Kubale was third thirdThe The track record for threequarters was lowered for the second time in as many days when L T Coopers Cup o Tea ran the threequarters in 112 in the second race today The winner showed the way for the entire distance winning with case and being the second straight favorite to score which was something unusual as the public choices have met with very little success at this meeting Peggy O again raced very wide atj the stretch head and finished going fast to be second This filly would be hard to beat if she would stay in on the turns but the short turns here are to her disadvantage Colonel Schooler away rather slowly was rushed into second place at the quarter but was tiring at the end and just lasted to save third place from Contusion ContusionTho Tho jockeys received their salaries yester ¬ day for the past week and Hebert topped the list with J22S while Boganowski earned 198 and Sdiaefer 195
