BROOKLINES 1926 MEETING Eastern Horse Club to Conduct Racing at Famous Boston Course on June 17 and 19. BOSTON, .Mass.. April 21. — Baling returns to Broeekline- this year at the Country Club cr.urse, and it is to be conducted by the Kastern Horse Club on June 17 and June 19. This announcement is of vast Interest to the hunting set as well as the various sportsmen who support steeplechasing. and It is just one more evidence of the awakened interest in that spectacular part of racing. It was at Brookline that some of the greatest of "amateur" meetings have been conducted and the return of racing at the- famous old course will be a big thing for the sport. For thirty-five years the annual meetings at the Country Club course stood almost i alone for their sporting magnificence. Then. ! in 1917, by reason of the war. the racing was discontinued and as year after year went by without a resumption, sportsme-n were beginning to think that Brookline- was destined te be only a memory. For the meeting, which brings the sport back, an excellent program has been prepared, the entries for which are to close with Frank J. Bryan, racing secretary for the club, on May 17. at 2a0 Park Avenue, Xew York. This program provides for two flat races and four steeplechases on each day and there will be revivals of the Chamblet Memorial, the Challenge Cup, National Hunt Cup and the Country Club Irand Annual Steeple-c-hases. And while on the subject of such rae-ing. attention is called to the announcement of the Hssex Foxhounds of Xew Jersey. This sporting organization is out with the blanks for its Peapack, of a mile and a half on the flat, and the Xew Jersey Hunt Cup Steeplechase of four miles through hunting country The subscriptions to these races close September 1. with Bichard Whitney, at It Wall Street. New York, and the races are to be run at Peapack. X. J., on October 30.
