OPENING DAY AT AKRON Big Crowd Out for Initial Days Sport — Monday Morning Takes Inaugural Handicap. AKRON, Ohio. April 21. Ideal conditions prevailed at Northampton Iark for the opening days sport of the spring meeting. Close to seven thousand people made the trip to the course and enthusiastic cheering greeted the horses when paraded for the first race on the card. The public got away to a flying start when The Ulster installed as favorite took the initial dash from Miss I.eighton. The puhlic choice again showed the way home in the second when Ormzleigh driving hard at the end had enough left to stall off Dalton. Monday Morning, seven-year-old son of King .lames-Washerwoman, easily accounted for the Akron Inaugural Handicap, feature of the day. Long Ioint was second with Jaunehur third. Little time was lost at the harrier with Deadfall taking the pacemaking room as they rounded the first turn, hard pressed by Bong Ioint. Callahan had a stout pull on Monday Morning down next the inside rail. There was little change in this order till rounding for home when Deadfall as he tired, bored out letting Monday Morning through on the inside to draw away to an easy victory.
