Bakers Veteran Georgie furnished the stellar incident Bit film; the Kentucky Associations racing of Friday when he annexed the principal race carded and displayed considerable improvement over his showing of a preceding • start. He won handily from Marconi with Spanish Lay following the pair. The race ■was at a mile and a sixteenth and engaged eight starters. Marconi was the favorite, as he had right to 1k for he registered a handy victory over Georgie and others that started with him in a previous race. There is just a possibility that Marconi might have won again today had Noe used better judgment in riding the Cooper representative. He permitted Marconi to suffer interference as a result of 1ride bumping into him sharply wh«n the! j harrier was released. Marconi was away last but Nm rushed him around the others. | j applying the whip in doing so, and wrested Use lead in the first quarter. He continued j j racing him at a stiff pace going up the hill 1 1 I and Marconi was well spent when wcorgie. moving up with a great rusn after half a ] ! , mile challenged. The duel between the pair j was of short duration, Marconi giving way • I steadily, enabling Georgie to win in easy j style during the last seventy yards. Spanish Lady coming fast, threatened Marconi for! second place, but he succeeded in staving him off. MKMFF.l.S OVKKTIIKOW. Tin- defeat of Menifee in the preceding race , •was a severe blow to the local racing enthusiasts, j who regarded the Gallaher-Combs representative as being far superior to those he . | ! met over the Futurity Course distance. Menifee . I flattered extensively by showing the way by a good margin from the start and when Straightened in the stretch he seemed to have the race won. Suddenly in the last sixteenth j Dark Ihantom came with a terrific rush and I passed Menifee in the last twenty yards to win going away. Malcolm B. Jr.. an earlier factor, managed to land third place. Those who backed Menifee for second place received more than those who backed Menifee straight would have received had he won. Ideal weather was the rule during the afternoon and it brought out the full strength of racing enthusiasts here, augmented by-many from adjacent towns and cities who form the advance visitors to be on hand for the Centennial festivities tomorrow, when the 100th anniversary of the framing of the Kentuck Association will be held. Todays racing was highly pleasing, the man. spirited finishes affording an abundance if tin ills for the spectators. IIOIKIK FOlt J. N. AMDKV The .T. V Camden establishment earned its first success of the meeting and scored a double with its representatives. Khalifa assisting 1 ark Phantom in the dual victory. Khalifas win came in the sixth race for ■which Indian l.ove Call came in for wide attention. Xoe again offended here by his slovenly ride. He took Indian Love Call completely out of it soon after the start and rode wide all during the last three-eighths. Khalifa under strong riding by Bail Pool was always in the forward flight and she responded gamely when urged hard in the last sixteenth. Iadona just managed to hold on for Ml oml place, betting out Krick. The latter showed a winning performance and Was considerably bothered when he had to race in losc quarters all during the last eighth. The sport began with a dash over the Futurity Course, in which twelve of the more mediocre horses lure were the staiters. It resulted in a spirited finish with Valence tin- winner from l| She Gees and Why following. The leading three at the finish practically dominated tin- nice from the st.it t.
